Why Volunteer for Us People volunteer for a variety of reasons and volunteers are involved in the development and delivery of all Sheffield Mind services. From the Board of Trustees to our service user co-production sessions, volunteers have a crucial role in determining our strategic development and how we ensure that services are relevant, innovative and appropriate to the needs of the local population. For many people, volunteering is a great way to give something back to the community or to make a difference to the people around them. For others, it provides an opportunity to develop new or utilise existing skills or build on experience and knowledge. For some, volunteering can be a route to employment, or a chance to try something new which may lead to a career change. If you're wanting to work in the health and social care sector, volunteering for Sheffield Mind can provide valuable experience and transferable skills which can be applied to a number of different careers. All our volunteers receive core training and regular supervision from staff so that they're supported throughout their time with us. They also get to work with, and be part of, a close-knit team who value the contribution they make to the organisation. Current volunteer Karen tells us why she enjoys volunteering and what she gets out of working with Sheffield Mind on the Here 4 You project.
